The LA Auto Show saw the premiere of the new Audi TT Roadster derivative of the famous Audi TT. The overall design of the vehicle was very much in line with that of its Coupe brother. The quality and fit and finish was of Audi's excellent high level, and the treatment of the convertible conversion was as to be expected. Due to the refinement in surfaces and lines, the car looks a bit more stretched then its predecessor. The treatment of the jewelry, the brightwork, looked a bit more sophisticated and the same goes for the interior trim. One nice thing we found was that, exclusively for the convertible, the bold ":baseball glove" stitching remains with the new generation. It is fair to wonder whether this softtop version, especially in comparison to the high standard of finish of some other recent convertible introduction, does not obviously lack a hardtop convertible, similar to the VW EOS, the Chrysler Sebring and the Pontiac G6. There are pros and cons to both of course, but we noticed the obvious lack of covering in open version that we just did not see on the other models mentioned, and that does seem to clash with the Audi brand image of high quality.
